Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Le Mans”, Homage to the “Paul Newman” Dial

Rolex has introduced a special edition of the Cosmograph Daytona, the reference 126529LN, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. This unique timepiece pays homage to the iconic "exotic" Paul Newman dial, which is highly sought after by collectors. The connection between Rolex and motorsport dates back to 1930 when Sir Malcolm Campbell wore a Rolex Oyster while racing. Rolex has since become involved in various racing events, including the Daytona International Speedway and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The brand has also been the official timing partner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001.

The new Daytona 126529LN features a 40mm 18k white gold case with a black ceramic bezel and a platinum tachymeter scale. The dial, presented in a classic "panda" style, has a bright black base with a sunray-brushed effect and white contrasting sub-counters. The sub-counters on this watch pay tribute to the vintage Paul Newman dials, featuring square-shaped markers and tracks. One notable difference is the inclusion of a 24-hour counter at 9 o'clock instead of the usual 12-hour counter, reflecting the partnership between Rolex and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Powering the watch is the Calibre 4132, an evolution of the Calibre 4131, which features a patented mechanism for the 24-hour display. The movement incorporates Rolex's latest technologies, including the Chronergy escapement and a blue Parachrom hairspring. It has a power reserve of 72 hours and is visible through the sapphire caseback, showcasing the new Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration and a yellow gold rotor. The watch is fitted with an 18k white gold bracelet and a folding safety clasp.
