Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai

Jaeger-LeCoultre pays homage to the 19th-century Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai with its latest unveiling: two Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai watches. While "The Great Wave of Kanagawa" remains Hokusai's iconic masterpiece, the new models draw inspiration from his lesser-known series, "A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces”, specifically featuring woodcuts like "The Waterfall where Yoshitsune washed his horse at Yoshino in Yamato province" and "The Waterfall at Ono on the Kisokaidō Road."

Limited to just 10 pieces per reference, these watches showcase meticulous enamel craftsmanship. The miniature enamel paintings adorning the backs of these timepieces required around 14 layers, each meticulously fired at 800°C. The dials boast intricate faceted hour-markers and dauphine-style central hands against guilloché patterns, one featuring a grain d’orge motif and the other a rhombus tapestry, all set in a generously sized rectangular white gold case (45.6×27.4mm). Powering these watches is the hand-wound calibre 822, while translucent turquoise enamel elegantly marks the passage of time.
